things that make you go mmm

At 33 I am finally an adult have bought my own car! A zippy red Toyota Paseo. So it’s a 1996 and it’s done over 130k… mmm it’s still sexy!

Now I just need to name it/her/him and save up for a stereo (or an ipod and a car kit!).

(I should mention that last week's shit week was topped off with me taking of the front right wheel surround on the new ute - so really shit week

car trouble

You wouldn’t bloody believe it.

I had to go to Palmerston North for work on Monday and Tuesday and because I live in Martinborough I borrowed a work car from Friday night and returned it to work in Petone this morning (Wednesday) with no incident…. .Until…

I pulled into the park on the upper level and decided to back out and straighten up the car and I backed straight into the end of the metal handrail on the stairs. The whole back window smashed.

I feel like such a twat.

They’ll probably never lend me a car again.

One of the young blokes at work is leaving for his OE and he’s offered me his ’89 Toyota Corolla for $600. Now that’s tempting because lets face it – I must be a poor driver going by my record.

:(

Oh Ellen, wherever you are, I miss you!
I wish you were roaming globally – but I guess not on your pay as you go.

munter step mum - munter mum

Another weekend with the kids. Mum likes to go get munted while we have them. Why be a mum when you can be a munter?

We like to sit at home or at the neighbours with them and get munted. Semi munted cricket is ok.

You know you’re step mum when you clean some other kid’s shite of the toilet seat without complaining.

Where The Wild Things Are seemed to be a much better story when I was little. I still like the pictures though. ;)

A lot of beer at a Sunday night bbq is not a good idea when you have to get up at 5.45am on Monday morning.

Gardening is more than hoes and rose pricks. It’s back breaking, soul destroying, weta filled madness!

Not all weed is equal.

Salem caught to birds in the weekend, and although I probably shouldn't be, I'm very proud of her!

The new Metro at the railway station is much bigger inside then expected. It’s like the freakin’ Tardis!

mental pussy

Mental – is what my cat is when. Salem spent last night running back and forth across the roof. It was def cat on a semi warm tin roof.

Awesome – is what the U2 concert in Auckland was on Friday night.

Expensive – were the drinks$ and the shoddy room at the Mercure Hotel on Customs St.

Mind altering – things were taken on Fri and Sat night. Although Sat night I was too buggered to enjoy it.

Frustrated – is what I am because they give me a new PC (not at home mind you!) without all the programmes I need or the admin rights to change what I want. Shite loads to do and now having to spend time resetting everything like Dreamweaver.

Sorry I wasn’t clever enough to get that to spell anything. I'm just too tired. Need a holiday from the holiday and from the 'tards at work.

melbourne baby melbourne

We went to Melbourne last week but unfortunately we didn't buy a digital camera until we came back through duty free on the way home.

Hopefully Shane's mate Brendan who we stayed with will email us some pics.

Highlights
We:
Went to Melbourne Cup Day in the corporate area
Went to Emirate Stakes Day in the committee room
Went to the Casino
Went shopping for the kids
Went to Pearl Restaurant (Richmond -- one of the top 10 Restaurants in Australia
Went to Watergrill - Seafood, Grill and Oyster Bar (Toorak Rd, South Yarra)
Went to Portsea and walked along the beach
Went to the Victoria Markets - shopping
Went to Bridge Street - shopping
Went to Chapel Street - shopping
Bought a digital camera

I bought a GHD - oopsy!

At Pearl Shane had seared spring bay scallops with crisped belly pork, tamarind spearmint and ginger - bloody tasty even if it was small.

We both had whole crispy fried snapper with coconut caramel a shredded vegetable salad with lemon balm as a main.

I had turkish delight and rose petal ice cream, with glaced ginger pomegranate seeds and persian fairy floss as a dessert.

Pearl was quite modern and reminded me a bit of Anise that used to be up Cuba Street, but whiter and brighter.

At Watergrill the service was lovely. The Maitre'd looked after us. I had Morton Bay Bugs, which is a bit like crayfish. They were delicious and I highly recommend trying them if you get the chance. Mussels in Australia are outrageously small in comparison to the good old kiwi green lips.

If we go to the Cup next year I know what lady pants I'll be wearing thanks to the lovely Martha of Babylicious!
